Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

I've been to Milwaukee many times, five or six times at least. Here is where my husband's family live. They are awesome people, all of them. It took me a while to get their names right and also to associate the right name to the right face, but I think I'm pretty good at saying the right name to the right person now.
I've spent hot summers and really cold winters here. I've enjoyed energising summer bike rides along lake Michigan and ready-to-go-home-for-a-cup-of-hot-chocolate walks in the winter. I've tried amazing cheese curds, drunk delicious beers, got crazy and extremely generous Christmas presents, made lots of different kinds of pizzas, created some dishes, written silly quotes for eternity and had life-inspiring thoughts that I'd love to see materialised were it not for the fact that I don't really have the money needed to open a business right now.
I know that people visit Chicago, NYC, LA, San Francisco, etc, but hey, I get to visit this really cool city called Milwaukee, home to the Milwaukee Brewers.
What places do I recommend visiting in town if you want scrumptious burgers and beer for a decent price? Oscar's. Go to Oscar's, you can't miss it. It's a cool restaurant, great customer service, relaxed atmosphere and exactly what you should try if you are a tourist like me who loves burgers.
Another place I recommend is The Merriment Social. It's not cheap but their customer service is awesome. This one waitress uncorked a bottle of wine, some of the cork fell into the wine and because it was me who got the first glass, I also got the cork. Did I complain? Oh, no. In fact, I didn't mind this at all. But then I saw this girl standing by the bar explaining to the general manager what had happened. A few seconds later, this guy comes to me with a new glass full of wine and no cork in it this time. Was it necessary? In my opinion, no, it wasn't. It was just very little cork in it, but I really appreciated the fact that they were so polite and truly apologetic. What should you try here? Their fried Brussels sprouts with garlic. It was out of this world. Crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and the parmesan cheese sprinkled on them was just the right touch. I had the Swayze Train burger (I know, I know, another burger). But what can I say? I utterly love burgers. And every place is another and very different experience. They also have a selection of dishes based on the season definitely worth trying!
If you happen to be here during the summer months, the Milwaukee Art Museum is a must! The architecture of the building is amazing! Right before the evening hours, you can appreciate how the sails of the vessel it imitates close very slowly. They have exhibits of different kinds and it's not expensive.
Another very interesting possibility for the summer time is the very many festivals held at the Henry Maier Festival Park premises. Just check out their website and see what's on.
I am not a winter person and don't enjoy winters at all. So I can't really tell you what activities are out there during the cold months. But in any case, beer and cheese are excellent in Milwaukee. Make sure you visit some breweries and cheese shops, I am sure you will be positively surprised. There's a huge German tradition in town, and you can see it in the names of the streets, some of the building and the beer and cheese varities they have.
Apart from this, take into account that Milwaukee is home to the famous Harley Davidson motorcycles. You can visit the premises, the Harley Davidson Museum and you will probably want to buy one of them once you see the price!
Anyhow, that's all for now. Wait for the next entry!
